I have periodically made installations, books or other projects that gather snippets of others’ voices… Previously, 25 generous souls sent me dreams for my wall installation “Oneiric Oology”… their dreams were inscribed on bird eggs and hung with vintage calipers (materials from one of my own dreams) to create surreal wall of dreaming cross-talk drifting over from that other realm. And most recently, I gathered dreams of trees, bushes or plants; Fire in any form; Cutting or growing (of anything); or Water or Earth\/Dirt… I transcribed those dreams onto paper-covered tree branches gathered from the ground.\u00a0 Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see a short video of a studio installation of this project.<\/p>

I’m once again drawn to bring together different people, coalescing a chorus from many places.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Only the Most Important Moons…<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

I have hundreds of tiny (3×3″) ink paintings of the moon on ‘shikishi’ boards. (Shikishi are rice paper mounted on hardboard with a gold paper edge that come in various sizes).\u00a0<\/p>

I am requesting:<\/p>

1 to 3 dates from your life that were very important to you in some way.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>

I will shift that date to the nearest full moon (using a moon phase calendar) and write the date on the front of the moon painting, your name on the back.\u00a0<\/p>

I will execute two — one for you and one for me.\u00a0 I will frame one and add it to my wall installation.\u00a0 I will sign the back of the other and send it to you.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Shikishi boards are made by laminating Gasen rice paper to a hardboard backing. The edges are generally trimmed in gold<\/p>

I will execute two: One will be framed and included in the wall installation. One will be mailed to you.\u00a0 Your moon will have my signature on the back in place of your name).<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>

I have 155 round frames for this project. So if you submit more than one date, I commit to include the first one.\u00a0 If there’s room, I’ll include more than one and you’ll receive a moon for every date I can include.\u00a0<\/p>

Dream Branches…\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>

Below is a video of several completed branches installed in my studio. The branches were gathered from the ground in my neighborhood park in Brooklyn before the City Park gardeners came around to clear them, I like to think the trees were done with them and offered them up.<\/p>

They are sealed and covered in two to three layers of Chinese Yuan calligraphy paper with layered ink lines along their length.\u00a0 The dream texts will meander along those lines.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
