Growing up I always found myself outdoors, camping, hiking, and inspecting the intricacies that nature has given to us. I find value in the visuals of nature, both in its beauty and imperfections, and I am able to see the extraordinary in the ordinary aspects of nature that some would not give a second glimpse to. Through these rich resources much of my inspiration for my work comes from the colors, textures, patterns and forms occurring outdoors. I often combine different natural and found materials such as wool, hair and wood with metal to create unstructured formations that echo the elemental world. My pieces celebrate the fragility of nature by transforming temporal materials into a long lasting, natural material, metal. The combination of techniques such as hammering, riveting, enameling, casting and crochet give my work a raw and unique quality. With these techniques and materials I incorporate a balance of texture, form and color to create timeless, fluid and organic creations. There is an individual energy to my pieces which is embraced by the wearer and their independent personality. It is my intention that the work gives the viewer a glimpse into my personal, intimate relationship with nature.
